EXCEED SPORTS PERFORMANCE & FITNESS

Exceed Sports Performance & Fitness is not for everyone. There are no lavish amenities, no fluff, and no gimmicks. We aim simply to provide our athletes and clients alike with an environment that will allow them to work hard and achieve results. EXCEED opened its doors full time in late 2012, but our staff has spent over 15 years developing our methods and coaching skills.

One of our core principles is that all athletes are unique. Although many possess similar strengths and weaknesses, it is vital to approach each athlete with their individual needs in mind. After a comprehensive assessment the athlete is provided with custom exercise programming and instruction based on our findings. The right exercise program is the one that garners the greatest results. This individualization allows us to better approach the optimal and ideal program for all of our clients. Lastly, and often most importantly, in addition to the exercise programming each client is approached with different coaching methods and instruction depending on their learning style and demeanor.

Our mission is to deliver a cutting-edge performance training system to each and every one of our clients — from developing youths to active adults and professional and elite athletes. Our goal is to improve client performance by fostering a constructive, inclusive and supportive environment in which our clients feel challenged to become the best they can be.

At Exceed Sports Performance & Fitness, we strive to put forth the best product available. We expect our clients to make improvements every single session–physically and mentally–so that they are adequately prepared to overcome the obstacles facing them, not only on the playing field, in all aspects of their lives. Simply put, we are driven to help our clients EXCEED all of their goals!

Sean Smith

Sean started his training and coaching career as a young athlete under the mentorship of some of the most respected strength coaches in the industry, giving him excellent access to experience and knowledge. 

He specializes in speed and performance training. Sean has 18 years of experience working with elite high school, college, and professional athletes. 

Sean holds a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification from the National Strength & Conditioning Association, a USA Weightlifting Level 1 certification , a Precision Nutrition Level 1 Nutrition certification and a TPI Level 1 certification.

Sophie Scearbo

Sophie started her training and coaching experience 7 years ago as an athlete under Shane and Sean’s mentorship.
Sophie graduated with a bachelors degree in Exercise Science from Merrimack College in 2023, where she was a 5-year member and team captain on the Division I Women’s Lacrosse team. Sophie also holds a Masters degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Merrimack.

Shane Davenport

Shane Davenport and Exceed specialize in improving speed, power, strength and repeatability and teaching athletes how to use these abilities to express their sport-skills at the highest level.

Shane has presented nationally and internationally and has consulted and designed systems for major college programs, professional athletes, World Champion martial arts programs and recreational athletes across the country.

Shane opened the doors to Exceed in June 2012. Before that, he was the Director of Performance and Head Coach at TEAMWORKS Sports Performance (Formerly CATZ) in Acton, MA. Shane holds a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification from the National Strength & Conditioning Association, a Catalyst Olympic Level 1 certification, Perfect Postures levels 1-3, a BioForceHRV certification and a Function Movement Screen Certification.

 

Domenic Russo

Domenic started his training and coaching career as an athlete under Sean and Shane’s mentorship right here at Exceed. He has a wealth of knowledge about our systems and methodology. 

Dom holds a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Endicott College, where he was a 4-year member and team captain on the varsity men’s lacrosse team. He holds a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification from the National Strength & Conditioning Association.
